Like all good Methodist ministers, when given the chance, I sit on the back row. There I was, between Russell and Daniel (two clergy friends). I couldn’t resist. I leaned over to Russell and whispered, “What a coincidence! One of the Eagles songs reflects my thoughts about my relationship with God, too!” “Which one?” Russell asked. “Tequila Sunrise,” I said. Daniel leaned over and said, “Desperado.” Another person whispered, “For me it’s Kansas- Carry On, My Wayward Son.”
Not good to put too many Methodist ministers together on the back row.
My friend Joel and his staff are delivering a series of sermons this summer where they use popular songs as images of God’s love.
What would your song be?
(Note: In all seriousness, John Gorka has a song that basically tells where I am at this point in my life, Morningside. Here it is. Have a listen! - Morningside
