Each week in worship we stand and greet one another with the peace of God. The Grateful Dead’s song “Ripple” has this wonderful chorus-
Reach out your hand if your cup be empty,
If your cup is full may it be again,
Let it be known there is a fountain,
That was not made by the hands of men.
When we greet each other, that’s what we are doing- filling each other’s cups from a fountain not made by human hands. The Bible ends with these great words- “Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.” (Revelation 22:17).
May your cup be filled again and again throughout 2015!
